Ukraine may receive Bradleys in coming weeks — Pentagon

The US Defense Ministry said that in the next few weeks, the Armed Forces would be able to receive American Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.

Rubryka writes about this with reference to the Pentagon website.

Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said: "With the Bradleys, as Deputy Secretary Cooper talked about last week, we're looking at, you know, several weeks.

So again, we'll continue to work as quickly as we can; as I'm sure you can appreciate, we're not going to announce in advance exactly when those systems will arrive. And certainly, the Ukrainians, I'm sure, will highlight them once they do get on the ground."

According to Ryder, training of the Ukrainian military on Bradley armored vehicles will take place at the Grafenwehr training ground in Germany.

"So the Bradleys should be available or will be available if not now, then very soon at Graffenwoehr, and that will be part of the combined arms training that they do in Germany," he emphasized.

The US Ministry of Defense representative noted that, for security reasons, he could not name the specific dates of delivery of the Patriot to Ukraine: "Once the training is complete, then, you know, the Patriot will be delivered so that they can employ it. I'm not going to get into specific dates, weeks other than several months, just again based on the training timeline."

He reminded that up to 100 Ukrainian airmen would learn to work with the Patriot air defense system in the USA. They plan to complete the training in a short period of time – "several months," although earlier, it should have lasted at least 1 year.

Ryder assured that the US maintains a "robust and ongoing" dialogue with Ukraine and the international community to find out what assistance Ukraine needs in the security field based on the conditions on the battlefield.

A Pentagon spokesman also said: "We'll continue to look at what their needs are based on their requests and try to provide them with the capabilities they need to not only defend their country but to be able to take back territory."

When asked about the provision of aircraft to Ukraine, he replied that the Ukrainians have an Air Force that works very effectively in many places throughout the country.

"And so when it comes to the kinds of capabilities that we provide them, we'll continue to have that conversation with them, with our international allies and our partners, and we'll take a variety of considerations into account, factors to include training, maintenance, sustainability, also the availability of those types of systems.

So nothing new to announce on that front, but we'll be sure to keep you updated," he noted.

Next week, the US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, General Mark Milley, will visit Germany, where a new contact group meeting on the defense of Ukraine will be held at the Ramstein Air Base.

Leaders of defense departments from about 50 countries that are part of this group will gather.
