Zelensky: Battle for Donetsk's Soledar will end in Donbas liberation
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, said that Bakhmut, Soledar, Kreminna, and Svatove are expected prospects in Donbas in the coming weeks. The battle for Donbas continues.
Rubryka reports, referring to the Office of the President of Ukraine website.
"Although the occupiers have now concentrated their greatest efforts on Soledar, the result of this complex and prolonged battle will be the liberation of our entire Donbas.
I thank all our soldiers who protect our Bakhmut and show maximum resilience! Thanks to all the soldiers in Soledar, who are withstanding new and stricter assaults by the invaders! It is challenging: there are almost no whole walls left… Thanks to the resilience of our soldiers there, in Soledar, we won additional time and additional forces for Ukraine," the Ukrainian leader noted.
"And what did russia want to gain there? Everything is destroyed. There is almost no life left. And thousands of their people are lost: the entire land under Soledar is covered in the corpses of the occupiers and scars from the blows. This is what madness looks like.
Thank you to everyone who helps our country! Kudos to all who work to ensure that Ukrainians win! Glory to all those who fight for Ukraine!" Zelensky emphasized.
We will remind you that Soledar remains one of the biggest flashpoints in Donbas, in addition to the defense of Bakhmut. Recently, russian propagandists began dispersing fakes about the alleged "capture" of the city, but Ukraine denied these claims.
On January 9, Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar said that after the failed attempt to capture Soledar in Donetsk region, the enemy reformed. It changed its tactics and launched a new powerful assault.
ISW noted that evgeny prigozhin, the head of the Wagner military group, continues to use reports about the situation in the city of Soledar in the Donetsk region to strengthen his company's reputation as an effective military force.
