Forty-three combat clashes took place during the day in the Bakhmut direction. Ukrainian positions came under 281 russian shellings, while Ukraine's Defense Forces soldiers destroyed 107 occupiers and wounded 123.

Serhii Cherevatyi, Ukraine's Armed Forces' Eastern Grouping spokesman, announced this on the air of a nationwide telethon, Ukrinform reports.

"In 24 hours, 281 shelling of positions and infrastructure along the entire length of this frontline took place in the Bakhmut direction. Forty-three combat clashes took place; enemy losses are 107 killed and 123 wounded," Cherevatyi said.

He emphasized that it was the "hottest" section of the front, where the most aggressive actions of the russian army were taking place. The enemy has concentrated the most combat-capable units here, including the Wagner mercenaries.

According to the spokesman, the enemy attacks are gradually moving toward Soledar, which is practically destroyed, and fierce fighting continues.

Soledar remains one of the hottest spots in Donbas, besides the defense of Bakhmut. Recently, russian propagandists began dispersing fakes about the alleged "capture" of the city, but Ukraine denied these claims.

Earlier, the head of the Donetsk regional military administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, noted that heavy fighting was happening around this city. Ukrainian forces are taking all measures, but the head of the region did not go into details.

As for the situation in the Luhansk region, according to Cherevatyi, the intensity of hostilities here is somewhat lower than near Bakhmut, while active hostilities are also taking place near Kreminna.

"The enemy is regrouping there. There is also a rotation of units, particularly those manned by mobilized… The enemy is even trying to counterattack our positions, particularly in the area of the settlements of Stelmakhivka and Chervonopivka. However, the enemy was hit by fire and pushed back," Cherevatyi noted.

The russian occupying forces are trying in every possible way to reach the borders of the Donetsk region or to capture at least one populated area, thus gaining at least some "victory." Therefore, the situation in Donbas is challenging.

The Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Hanna Maliar, stated that Ukraine was moving forward slowly in some parts of the Donetsk region liberating the territories. And the russian army is attacking some areas in this direction. Not only russia's regular army is striking, but also private forces.

Maliar noted that the invaders concentrated considerable efforts to reach the borders of the Donetsk region or, at least, for propaganda, to capture at least one populated place.
