UAE hands Ukraine over 2,500 power generators

The United Arab Emirates has handed over to Ukraine another 1,300 generators, which is the second part of the 2,500 units that the country pledged to send as humanitarian aid.

That's according to Ukrainian Ambassador to the UAE Dmytro Senik, who spoke with Ukrinform.

"Thanks to the implementation of the agreements reached between presidents of Ukraine and the UAE, it was possible to implement this humanitarian project that's so important for the Ukrainian people. Ukraine expresses its sincere gratitude to the leadership and people of the UAE for the effective and important assistance to Ukrainians who are going through one of the most difficult winter periods in their history as Russia is overtly committing the crime of genocide against Ukrainians, deliberately destroying Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The generators provided will help ensure heating and light for Ukrainian families this wartime winter," the ambassador said.

The plane carrying the second batch of household generators arrived in Warsaw on Friday. The first batch of 1,200 generators were sent to Poland before being further shipped to Ukraine on December 24.

As reported, earlier in December, the United Arab Emirates announced it would send Ukraine 2,500 generators with a capacity of 3.5 to 8 kilowatts. This was done within the scope of humanitarian aid in the amount of $100 million, which the UAE allocated to the civilian population affected by war in Ukraine.

The generators will be handed over to healthcare and education facilities, as well as critical infrastructure facilities in the areas affected by Russian aggression —Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhia, Odesa, and Kyiv regions.
