Ukrainian dancers made it to America’s Got Talent show semi-finals

The Ukrainian dance group from Dnipro Light Balance Kids took part in the selection for the American show America's Got Talent. The teenagers impressed the jury with their number and got to the competition's semi-finals.

Before the performance, one of the band's dancers noted that her father was currently protecting his country from russia's aggression.

"Some of our parents, such as my father, are now at war and fighting for our country's freedom and independence," the girl said.

One of the jurors asked if she saw the start of full-scale war on February 24, 2022.

The participant replied: "Of course. I woke up at 4 in the morning. My parents grabbed me, and we ran to the subway because there were rockets and bombs everywhere."

The dancers also said that participating in America's Got Talent is "an opportunity to remember what it's like to have a peaceful life." They added that they had already participated in the show in 2017 and took 3rd place at the end of the season.

"We want to show that the light always wins. And also to demonstrate our victorious spirit," the team members added.

The number of Ukrainian dancers is made in the form of a video game in the platform genre: they jump and dance on different levels, forming a light pattern.

At the end of the performance, a drawing of a fortress with two Ukrainian flags and the Ukrainian coat of arms in the middle appears on the stage. Also, the number ends with an image of victory salutes.

"This was your best performance of all time. And I can't tell you how brilliant it was," English TV presenter and producer Simon Cowell commented.

Jury member ex-model Heidi Klum added that she danced the entire number in her seat.

"This is a very important message. You came from perhaps the darkest place in the world and crossed the globe to bring us light. And if there's anything I can do on behalf of America and America's Got Talent to bring you more light than you brought us, I'd like to do it for you," said Canadian-American host and comedian Howie Mandel.

He pressed the special Golden Buzzer button, which automatically sends the casting participant to the semi-finals of the project.

He also joined the team on the stage while the rest of the jury members and the audience in the hall gave the Ukrainians a standing ovation.
