Shells, vehicles, and drones: large batch of German military aid arrived in Ukraine

The new military aid package that came to Ukraine from Germany includes shells, vehicles, and drones.

This became known from the January 5 updated list on the website of the Geman Federal Government, Rubryka reports.

The document reports that the following was delivered directly from military-industrial complex enterprises:

• 20 missile systems of 70 mm caliber on pickup trucks with missiles,
• 30 drone detection systems,
• Eight reconnaissance drones (26 in total);
• Seven tracked and remote-controlled infantry vehicles for support tasks,
• 63 pickups (previously 80 were transferred),
• Two armored evacuation vehicles (a total of 15 have already been handed over),
• one more in addition to 12 M1070 "Oshkosh" tank-transporter tractors,
• 27 anti-drone sensors and jammers (previously, Ukraine received 28),
• Seven cars for the border service (in total, there are now 85),
• 12 heavy-duty trailers.

Also, they delivered the following:

• 17 8×8 trucks (35 of them in total),
• 21 generators (previously, there were 195),
• 32 mobile heating systems (formerly 116),
• one more ambulance (already 36 in full),
• 36,400 wool blankets.

The vast majority of what is delivered comes not from Bundeswehr stocks but from the industry.

They are also planning to deliver almost a hundred reconnaissance drones shortly.

The federal government updates the list of weapons provided to Ukraine every week. It was last updated on December 20.

Meanwhile, the German Ministry of Economy reported on arms exports in 2022, from which it follows that Ukraine took the first place by a large margin in the list of countries that received permits for the supply of German arms with 2.245 billion euros or more than a quarter of all issued last year.

Ukraine's Air Force announced that the Ukrainian military would master the Patriot air defense system as quickly as possible.

As Rubryka reported, US President Joe Biden signed a memorandum on allocating up to one billion dollars, which should be directed to providing weapons and defense services to Ukraine and training the Ukrainian military.

Later, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken officially announced a new military aid package for Ukraine for $1.85 billion. This package also provides for the Patriot air defense system.

As Blinken explained, the new aid package will consist of $1 billion in funding from President Joe Biden's executive order and another $850 million from the Pentagon.
