President of Ukraine does not rule out further foreign visits
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he would make foreign visits only if they have important strategic content, are effective for the Defense Forces, and accelerate victory.
He said this during a speech at the Conference of Ambassadors of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.
"I urge you to consider this visit (to the United States) as a very important landmark… I do not have the opportunity to make foreign visits; there is simply no opportunity, no time, as it was done before in other settings. I have the opportunity to do such work in other formats, and you've seen it; I think it's been quite effective this year. But if a visit has potentially as significant strategic content as my visit now to the United States, if our Armed Forces, all our Defense Forces, absolutely directly depend on the results of the visit, if one or another of our partners is ready to take the lead in implementing the points of the Ukrainian peace formula, if there can be decisive steps to speed up our victory, then, as an exception to the general practice of wartime, there can be my negotiations and contacts on a personal level," Zelensky emphasized.
The head of state emphasized that every ambassador should know what result they can potentially give in their direction of stay.
The President reminded that the day before, he made his first foreign visit since February 24, which was to Ukraine's key ally of Ukraine — the USA.
He said that it was a productive visit, during which there was a decision to strengthen Ukrainian air defense, the American Congress is working on a powerful financial package, and also, according to him, there are "substantial strategic agreements with the United States for the coming months, which will definitely strengthen the capabilities of our Defense forces in key areas."
