Germany is considering what other weapons to supply to Ukraine

The German government is studying whether it can provide even more support to the Ukrainian armed forces in defense against russian air attacks.

Germany's Minister of Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock stated this, RND reports.

"Amid the delivery of Patriot, we will also look again at what else we can deliver because we know that these air defense systems save lives," Baerbock said, commenting on the US decision to transfer Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine.

The Bundeswehr also has these systems at its disposal and most recently assured Poland that three systems would be deployed on its territory. However, on Wednesday, the press secretary of the government, Steffen Gebeshreit, made it clear that there are not enough of them to transfer to Ukraine.

However, Germany has already supplied other types of air defense, including the Iris-T system, which can protect an entire city from attack. 30 Gepard anti-aircraft guns were also provided.

Currently, it is planned to deliver three more Iris-T systems and seven Gepard tanks.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken officially announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth $1.85 billion, which for the first time, involves the transfer of the Patriot air defense system.

As Blinken explained, the new aid package will consist of $1 billion in funding from President Joe Biden's executive order and another $850 million from the Pentagon.

"Today's assistance for the first time includes the Patriot Air Defense System, capable of bringing down cruise missiles, short-range ballistic missiles, and aircraft at a significantly higher ceiling than previously provided air defense systems," the Secretary of State announced.

Later, the United States revealed more detailed contents of the specified military aid package.
