Biden signed record defense budget for 2023 with $800 million for Ukraine

US President Joe Biden signed the United States defense budget for next year with a record 858 billion dollars. This document also provides for 800 million dollars in aid to Ukraine.

This was reported in the White House, Rubryka writes.

The announcement states: "On Friday, December 23, 2022, the President signed into law: H.R. 7776, the "James M. Inhofe National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023," which authorizes the fiscal year 2023 appropriations principally for Department of Defense programs and military construction, Department of Energy national security programs, and Intelligence programs; specifies a military basic pay increase and other authorities relating to the U.S. Armed Forces; authorizes appropriations for the Department of State, Department of Homeland Security, Maritime Administration, U.S. Coast Guard, and the Intelligence Community; and other matters."

The defense budget was allocated 45 billion more than President Joe Biden initially proposed. The budget provides for an increase in wages for the American military, funding for the purchase of weapons, support for Taiwan, which China threatens, and 800 million in military support for Ukraine to repel russia's aggression.
