80% of Kyiv region and over 50% of Kyiv remains without electricity due to drone attack

In the central part of Ukraine, particularly in the Kyiv region and the capital, there is a significant shortage of energy system capacity. 

In Kyiv, less than half of consumption needs are provided, the Ukrenergo electricity company reports.

The company says that russian drone attacks on main network facilities in the central region on December 19 and artillery shelling in the east led to further damage to infrastructure and deterioration of the energy supply situation.

In Kyiv, they provide less than half of the consumption needs, and the priority is critical infrastructure.

Ukrenergo expects that on December 20, it will be possible to turn on the equipment to increase the power supply reliability slightly.

It will also help reduce the capital's power hub's power deficit and provide more consumers with light.

Currently, 80% of the region remains without electricity in the Kyiv region, said Oleksii Kuleba, head of the region.

The most challenging situation is in more than 30 communities in the Bucha, Vyshhorod, Obukhiv, and partially Fastiv districts.

In the region, priority is also given to electricity supply to critical infrastructure facilities: hospitals, heat, and water supply facilities.

Emergency blackouts have now been introduced in the region.

As Rubryka reported, due to the russian drone attack on December 19, emergency power outages continue in Kyiv. The capital also warned of possible interruptions in the water supply for two hours due to repairs.
