US announced new aid package to restore Ukraine's energy system
The United States has announced a new energy aid package. It will be delivered to Ukraine in the coming weeks.
This was stated by John Kirby, the strategic communications coordinator of the US National Security Council in the White House, Voice of America reports.
"The US plans to provide a new aid package to Ukraine in the coming weeks, which will likely include additional air defense equipment and even more energy equipment," Kirby said.
A White House official declined to provide details of what would be included in the new security package for Ukraine. He said, however, that new air defense capabilities should be expected as in previous packages.
He also noted that the power system's first tranche of emergency repair equipment arrived in Ukraine on Friday. In total, the US will allocate 53 million dollars to restore the energy sector.
"The United States is committed to helping Ukraine restore light, restore heat, and help ease the suffering of Ukrainians during the winter months," Kirby added.
