Political scientist Fukuyama assumes Ukraine might return Crimea in 2023
The famous American political scientist Francis Fukuyama does not rule out that Ukraine will liberate Crimea from the russian invaders in 2023.
Francis Fukuyama, an American political scientist, and director of the Center for the Development of Democracy at Stanford University, said this in an interview with "Voice of America," UP reports.
"I think that the return of Crimea is not excluded in 2023. Right now, they (Ukrainian military – UP) must retake Kherson Oblast and then liberate Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Thus, they can simply cut off Crimea from the russians and deprive them of the ability to supply the peninsula", he said.
Fukuyama reminded that Ukraine has already hit the Kerch Bridge, so it will be difficult for russia to maintain its troops in the ARC.
The political scientist believes that such a situation will lead to the retreat of russian troops, and "we will see another humiliating withdrawal."
At the same time, Fukuyama does not think that russia's withdrawal from Crimea will lead to putin's use of nuclear weapons because the already difficult situation in which the russian federation found itself will become much worse
