Ukraine's MFA spoke on suspicious packages to Ukrainian diplomats

Ukrainian embassies and consulates have been receiving suspicious packages for a week, so all Ukrainian diplomatic missions are working under increased security measures.

This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba.

In total, 31 cases of suspicious packages received by Ukrainian embassies in 15 countries have already been recorded. Diplomats in Austria, the Vatican, Denmark, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, the USA, France, and Croatia have received such threats.

Diplomats in the Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, and Portugal received dangerous packages twice, in Italy — four times, in Spain — 5 times, and in Poland — 6 times.

Only in the last two days, the packages arrived at the embassies in Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, and Denmark and the consulate in Gdańsk.

Kuleba noted: "All the envelopes have the same address of the sender: the Tesla car dealership in the German town of Sindelfingen. Usually, the shipment was made from post offices that were not equipped with video surveillance systems."

The attackers also made sure not to leave traces of their DNA on the packages. And this may indicate a professional level of implementation of the campaign with threats.

The minister emphasized: "The campaign of terror against Ukrainian diplomats is unprecedented in its scale, not only in the context of Ukraine but also at the world level. I do not recall cases in history when so many embassies and consulates of one country were subjected to such massive attacks in such a short period.

On November 30, an explosion rang out at the Embassy of Ukraine in Madrid due to a sent envelope. And later, several Ukrainian diplomatic institutions abroad received bloodstained packages. The envelopes contained animal eyes.

In addition, the entrance to the ambassador's residence in the Vatican was vandalized, and the embassy in Kazakhstan received a report of a mine attack, which was not confirmed. And the embassy in the USA received a letter with a photocopy of a critical article about Ukraine. The letter arrived simultaneously with other packages from the territory of one European country.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, believes that either russia or someone "who sympathizes with the russian cause and tries to sow fear" is responsible for the threats to Ukrainian diplomats.
