US to announce new aid for Ukrainian energy system – media

For Ukraine to be able to continue transmitting electricity in the face of russian attacks on the country's energy system, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will announce new aid to the Ukrainian state on November 29.

Reuters reports, citing a high-ranking representative of the US State Department.

The publication says Blinken arrived in Romania on Monday evening for a meeting with NATO allies and foreign ministers of the G7 countries.

We will remind you that on November 28, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba met with NATO diplomats who came to Kyiv. He emphasized that transformers are the essential elements of the energy infrastructure for recovery after russia's massive missile attacks.

Speaking anonymously, a US official said Washington is working with American utilities and equipment suppliers and European countries on the search for equipment that can help restore high-voltage power transmission stations damaged by russian missile strikes.

Blinken intends to use Tuesday's new energy coordination group meeting, which includes the G7 and other nations.

At the meeting, the US Secretary of State plans to "talk about what the United States has been able to mobilize and about our plans to deliver this equipment to Ukraine as soon as possible within the next few weeks." An anonymous official noted this.

He did not specify in what form the aid will be provided and what its amount is.

Washington is also urging other countries to do the same. The official said Kyiv should prevent power outages that leave millions of people in the dark and without heating amid sub-zero temperatures.

The European Union will also provide Ukraine with further humanitarian aid to help it get through the winter.
