russia's mass missile attack on Ukraine: latest updates

On the afternoon of November 23, a massive air raid alert was announced throughout Ukraine. In several regions, the anti-aircraft defense was activated, and several explosions were heard in Kyiv. Currently, 9 Ukrainian regions are officially known to have been attacked.

Local authorities and our correspondents report this.

Kyiv

At least five powerful explosions were heard in Kyiv. In particular, they were heard in Sviatoshynskyi, Pecherskyi, and Podilskyi city districts.

Mayor Vitalii Klychko announced that one of the capital's infrastructural facilities had been struck due to the attack. Emergency blackouts are being introduced in the capital, according to Yasno's website.

Due to the russian rocket fire, the water supply has also been suspended throughout the capital. Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko announced this in Telegram.

"Due to shelling, the water supply has been suspended throughout Kyiv. Specialists of the Kyivvodokanal water supply company are working to restore it as soon as possible," the head of the city emphasized.

Kyiv's mayor also asked Kyiv residents to stock up on water. Specialists are doing everything possible to return water to the homes of Kyiv residents.

Kyiv region

During the massive rocket attack on the country, the residential area and infrastructure objects were struck in the Kyiv region, with at least 20 injured and one dead.

This was reported by the head of the Kyiv regional military administration, Oleksii Kuleba, deputy head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko, director of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kyiv region, Andrii Nebytov.

At first, Kuleba reported that there were hits in the region's residential sector and critical infrastructural objects.

Later, the head of the Kyiv region reported on the casualties among the civilian population. He also noted that all necessary services and doctors were already working on the scene.

In addition, the official reported that the entire Kyiv region is without electricity.

In turn, Tymoshenko also reported that a residential building was hit in the Kyiv region.

In addition, the head of the police of the Kyiv region, Andrii Nebytov, announced on the broadcast of the news telethon that there is one dead and 20 injured in the Kyiv region, 8 of them are in serious condition.

Vinnytsia region

The region was under fire from the russian occupiers. Their targets were critical infrastructure objects, says the head of the area, Serhii Borzov.

Poltava region

The air defense also operates in the Kremenchuk district of the Poltava region, as reported by the head of the area, Dmytro Lunin.

Dnipropetrovsk region

The same applies to the Dnipropetrovsk region—the Air Defense Forces protect the population from the attack. The head of the regional council, Mykola Lukashuk, reported a threat of a missile attack, and rocket launches have been recorded.

However, due to a decrease in voltage, there were power outages, and all water channels were cut off.

The head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, Valentyn Reznichenko, reported this on Telegram.

"russian rockets struck the energy infrastructure of the country. Due to a sharp drop in voltage in the network, there were emergency power outages throughout the region. Water channels were also cut off. There are water interruptions," he wrote.

It is noted that all emergency services are working.

Kharkiv

It is reported that there is no electricity in the entire city.

Cherkasy region

Due to russian attacks on the country's energy facilities, particular schedules for emergency power outages (red schedule) have been applied in the Cherkasy region. At present, a significant part of the region has been cut off, said Ihor Taburets, head of the area.

Lviv

Lviv is without electricity entirely, said the city's mayor Sadovyi.

"The whole city is without electricity. We are waiting for additional information from the energy experts. Water supply interruptions are possible. Stay in bomb shelters," he said.

Zhytomyr region

Due to a power system's electricity shortage and damage to critical infrastructure facilities, emergency power cuts are introduced on the territory of Ukraine, the head of the region, Vitaliy Bunechko, reported.

Interruptions with mobile communication are also possible. Teams of signalmen are working to restore the operation of base substations.

Mykolaiv region

In the Mykolayiv region, all power units of the Southern Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant had to be shut down due to the destruction of power grids due to the russian missile fire.

This was reported by the spokesperson of Energoatom, Leonid Oliynyk, in a comment for RBC-Ukraine.

"Yes. This is due to the destruction of networks. Everything is fine with the station. There is no place to give out electricity," the spokesman said.

Khmelnytskyi region

As a result of the massive enemy shelling of Ukraine, power units of the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant (KhNPP) were disconnected from the power system.

This was reported by the head of the region, Serhii Hamalii: "The power units of KhNPP are disconnected from the power system. The complete blackout is due to massive terrorist missile strikes on energy facilities throughout the country."

In addition, there is currently no voltage in most communities of the Khmelnytskyi region (except for Bilohiria, Teofipol, Polony, and Volochysk). There is also a part of the city without water.
