Delegation of European ministers announce additional aid to Ukraine

A delegation of European and international affairs ministers from European countries, together with the vice-president of the European Parliament, Nicola Beer, announced additional humanitarian aid to Ukraine in Kyiv.

As Ukrinform reports, they announced this at a briefing following a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, Olha Stefanishyna.

"You have our strong support in the resistance, our solidarity in words and deeds. I am here today to announce that Germany is providing an additional 14 million in humanitarian aid to help in the winter. We are also providing an additional 5 million to rebuild Ukrainian schools so that children have a future, together with United Nations Development Programme. We are already supplying winter equipment, such as generators, for 14 million euros, which will arrive here in the coming days," said the German State Minister for Europe and Climate, Anna Luhrmann.

For her part, the State Secretary for European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Daniela Gîtman, announced a contribution of 300,000 euros through the UNHCR to help the population in winter.

The Minister of EU Affairs and the Constitution of Austria, Karoline Edtstadler, also informed that her country provides an additional 100,000 euros to the International Criminal Court to ensure the investigation of russia's war crimes and to start collecting evidence now. Austria will also offer an extra 105,000 euros to "digital" forensic scientists.

"We show that we stand with Ukraine and support you because we know that you are fighting for our common European values, which is very important for all of us," the Austrian government official said.

The Minister of European Affairs of Croatia, Andreja Metelko-Zgombić, announced that by the end of the year, her government would allocate 4 million euros for specific projects on demining, knowledge transfer, training of trainers, and transfer of experience together with non-governmental organizations.

The secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Gunda Reire, noted that the women's rehabilitation center in Ivano-Frankivsk, partially financed by Latvia, will start working next week.

It will provide shelter, a wide range of rehabilitative obedience, and legal and social assistance to women who have become victims of sexual violence, she said.

The delegation also included Vice President of the European Parliament Nicola Beer, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Education and Sports of Liechtenstein Dominique Hasler, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Jovita Pranevičiūtė.

"I am especially grateful that the ministers announced their financial contribution in a bilateral format on several issues of the humanitarian and economic front of our survival. I am especially grateful that today's visit has an important humanitarian and women's dimension," Stefanishyna emphasized for her part.
