MH17 trial: court confirms russia’s involvement in downing

The Hague District Court made a statement in the case of the MH17 plane crash, announcing from which territory the missile that led to the tragedy was launched

RBC-Ukraine reports this with reference to the broadcast from the Hague.

As noted, the court ruled that Malaysian flight MH17 was shot down by the Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile complex in July 2014.

As the court decided, the missile was launched from the side of the village of Pervomaiske, occupied by pro-russian militants.

At the same time, the Hague District Court decided that at that time, the russian federation exercised control over the militants of the so-called "DPR."

"The court found that the russian federation had overall control over the so-called "DPR" since April 2014. Many separatist leaders were closely connected to the russian leadership.

In particular, "prime minister" Oleksandr Borodai called putin's advisor Vladyslav Surkov "his man in the kremlin."

In addition, the kremlin approved appointments to "ministerial posts" and coordinated the supply of russian weapons to Donbas," the presiding judge said.

It will be recalled that today the court of The Hague began announcing the verdict in the case of the MH17 disaster in Donbas in 2014.

It should be noted that on July 17, 2014, the passenger airliner flight MH17, which was traveling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, was shot down in the sky over the Ukrainian Donbas.

The investigation established that the plane was shot down by a missile launched from the Buk air defense system belonging to the 53rd anti-aircraft missile brigade of the russian federation. The russians shipped the SAM to Ukraine, where separatists and militants of the so-called "DPR" used it in battles against the Armed Forces.

As a result of the disaster, 298 people died. Two-thirds of them are citizens of the Netherlands. Also on board were Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia, Great Britain, Belgium, Germany, the Philippines, Canada, and New Zealand citizens.
