Ministry of Economy: All russian metallurgical products should subject to US sanctions

To help Ukraine overcome the energy crisis, it is necessary to introduce sanctions against the entire metallurgical complex of russia and provide access to the United States market to Ukrainian metallurgists

This was stated by the first vice-prime minister of the economy of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko, during a meeting with the US trade minister Gina Raimondo.

It is noted that Svyrydenko also held meetings as part of her visit to the US on November 8 with:

• US Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and Environment Jose Fernandez
• Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Finance and Development, Roland De Marcellus
• Deputy Administrator of USAID for Europe and Eurasia, Erin McKee.

"During the meeting, the First Vice Prime Minister emphasized that it is now very important to introduce sanctions against the entire metallurgical complex of the russian federation to provide access to the American market to Ukrainian metallurgists and to help our country overcome the energy crisis," the Ministry of Economy emphasized.

Svyrydenko, in particular, called on the US to increase the supply of anti-missile and anti-drone systems to Ukraine and equipment to overcome the consequences of shelling: generators, transformers, etc.

The minister also emphasized that the stabilization of the Ukrainian economy is based on steady exports. This especially applies to metallurgy.

"Steel is an area where we are particularly interested in expanding sanctions against the russian federation and access to the American market. All russian metallurgical products should be subject to US sanctions.

To this end, we call for including Ukrainian ore and other products in the Western supply chain and replacing russia in these markets.

It is also important to equate Ukrainian ore and cast iron with products from the EU and extend the exemption from tax tariffs (at least until the end of 2024) of Ukrainian export products," Svyrydenko stressed.
