Bulgaria's Parliament authorized supply of weapons to Ukraine
On Thursday, November 3, Bulgaria's Parliament authorized the supply of weapons to Ukraine against the backdrop of russian aggression.
The Sofia Globe reported this.
175 deputies voted "for" and "against" – 49, and one abstained. A four-hour debate took place in the parliament hall before the vote.
The "green light" from the parliament gives the Bulgarian government a one-month deadline to prepare a draft decision on the military and military-technical assistance Bulgaria should provide to Ukraine.
The government is also required to organize the signing of agreements on the provision of the necessary military equipment as soon as possible, taking into account "Bulgaria's capabilities."
In addition, the parliament's decision requires the government to negotiate with Bulgaria's NATO allies to provide the country with military equipment, thus speeding up the timeframe in which Bulgaria must dispose of its outdated Soviet-era weapons.
The parliament also requires the government to propose a package of measures for Bulgaria's participation in the reconstruction of Ukraine. It requires Bulgaria to support Ukraine's lawsuit against russia in the European Court of Human Rights.
