G7 will help Ukraine survive this winter — German Foreign Minister

Aid to Ukraine, especially given russia's actions aimed at destroying Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, is the most crucial issue on the G7 meeting agenda, which began in Münster, Germany.

This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, Annalena Baerbock, before the meeting of the foreign ministers of the G7 countries, Ukrinform reports.

"We will not accept that peace and international law be destroyed… We will not allow the russian president's strategy to destroy Ukraine to be successful. We will not allow international solidarity to be destroyed, as he (putin) hopes for," Baerbock said.

She noted that the president of the russian federation was "falling even deeper into inhumanity," making the war against Ukraine increasingly cruel, choosing the tactics of freezing Ukrainians in winter, forcing them to starve, and leaving them without water.

He also continues to use hunger, disinformation, and destabilization of other regions as weapons.

The German minister noted that putin was destroying civil infrastructure in cities and villages where russian soldiers could not enter. This is a new method of waging war, Baerbock said.

According to her, the G7 partners will try to prevent this, to prevent the deaths of many Ukrainians due to lack of heat, light, and water.

Annalena Baerbock noted that Germany has already started providing a package of winter support, which consists of assistance in stabilizing energy flows, providing more than 100 power generators, heating systems, water pumps, sanitary materials, warm clothes, etc.

The G7 countries will coordinate winter aid with partners and many others involved, which will be discussed at today's meeting.

In addition to the issue of aid to Ukraine, G7 diplomats will also discuss cooperation with African countries (on November 4, the leaders of some African countries will join the meeting), events in Iran and North Korea, as well as the strategy toward China.

Before the meeting, Baerbock held several bilateral meetings, including with her American colleague Anthony Blinken.

The meeting of the heads of foreign affairs of the G7 countries is taking place against the background of numerous protests – at least 13 different demonstrations have been registered in Münster.

Usually, the heads of the G7 foreign policy departments meet twice a year, but in the current conditions, the meeting is already the 10th since the beginning of 2022.
