Due to the actions of the russian invaders at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (ZNPP), the fish in the cooling pond are dying en masse.

Energoatom, the company that manages all nuclear plants in Ukraine, reported this on Telegram.

"As a result of the russians stopping the station's power units, warm water does not enter the ZNPP cooling pond, resulting in the water temperature dropping to about +13 degrees. This led to the mass death of fish in the pond," the report says.

The company noted that the fish in the pond perform a sanitary function, destroying green algae and keeping the cooling tubes of the turbine condenser clean.

It is emphasized that if the water temperature in the cooling pond does not rise soon, about a thousand tons of dead fish will be washed ashore.

The russian military has captured the Zaporizhzhia NPP since March 4. Since then, the invaders have placed military equipment and ammunition on the station's site and shelled the surrounding area.

The russians are also shelling the station itself, destroying power lines, causing the station's external power supply to be cut off, and blaming it on the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

russians abduct and torture ZNPP workers. In addition, according to Energoatom, the invaders started illegal construction on the station's site.
