Zelensky awards Rescuer City title to Prague
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has granted the honorary title of "Rescuer City" to the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague.
The relevant decree, No.742/2022, was published on the president's website.
"To award the city of Prague (Czech Republic) with the title of Rescuer City," the document reads.
It is noted that the award was presented "for showed humanism, mercy and solidarity with the Ukrainian people, comprehensive assistance to Ukraine's citizens who were forced to leave the Motherland due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, as well as significant support for Ukraine in the defense of its independence and sovereignty."
As reported, in May, President Volodymyr Zelensky introduced a special honorary title of "Rescuer City" for foreign partner cities of Ukraine. The Polish city of Rzeszów was the first to be awarded this title.
