Everything is much more terrible than we imagine in Germany — German President on his visit to Ukraine

During his visit to Ukraine, the Federal President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, was shocked by the war destruction and the stories of the civilian population.

Steinmeier stated this in an interview with the German newspaper Tagesschau.

"Everything is much more terrible than we imagine in Germany," the German president said.

As you know, during his visit to Ukraine, he was also caught by an air raid, forcing him to hide with other Ukrainians in a bomb shelter.

Steinmeier said, "of course, everyone who can think and sympathize wants the hostilities to stop."

However, as the President of Germany emphasized, a just peace "cannot mean that the will of an armistice will ultimately seal the seizure of land."

"This means that Ukraine's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity must be preserved. We are not at that point yet," he said.

According to Steinmeier, there are currently no signs of possible peace talks. He also expressed doubt that moscow will be able to negotiate peace with Ukraine and the West, given moscow's decision to invade a neighboring country, complete disregard for the will of the "brotherly people," and violation of international law.
