On October 25, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier arrived in Kyiv on a working visit to express his support for Ukraine.

His press secretary Cerstin Gammelin reported Steinmeier's visit to Ukraine, commenting:

"Our solidarity is unbreakable and will remain so," she said.

The President of Germany arrived in Kyiv unexpectedly.

It is his first trip to the country after russia's full-scale invasion, Reuters reports, citing the German television company ntv.

The TV company emphasized the German leader planned to meet with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

Steinmeier said it is imperative for him to "send a sign of solidarity to Ukrainians, especially now, in the phase of despicable Russian airstrikes in the country."

They emphasize that the federal president wants to personally see the destruction in the Chernihiv region and the capital Kyiv.

On October 24, while in Berlin, Steinmeier received the new ambassador of Ukraine, Oleksii Makieiev, for accreditation. Makieiev replaced Andrii Melnyk.

The visit of the federal president to Ukraine should demonstrate that the political differences between Steinmeier and the leadership of Ukraine have ended.

As Rubryka reported, the President of Germany planned to visit Kyiv in mid-April. Then a joint trip was designed with the presidents of Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia.

However, right before the start of the trip, Steinmeier was informed that he was allegedly not welcome in Ukraine.
