Entry ban for russians under Schengen visas comes into force in Czech Republic

On October 25, the Czech Republic's decision came into effect, prohibiting russians from entering the country with a valid Schengen visa issued by any member state of the European Union.

We will remind you that the government of the Czech Republic made a decision on October 12 at the suggestion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that up to 200 russian citizens arrive in the Czech Republic daily through the international airport.

From now on, russian citizens who arrive on the territory of the Czech Republic through the external borders of the Schengen zone for tourism, sports, or culture will be refused entry.

Thus, the Czech Republic joined the Baltic states, Poland and Finland. They also closed their borders to russian tourists in previous weeks in response to russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The Czech Republic became the first member state of the European Union to suspend the issuance of visas for russian citizens the day after the invasion of Ukraine, i.e., February 25.

We will remind you that on September 12, the decision of the Council of the EU to suspend the visa facilitation agreement with the russian federation entered into force.

The process of obtaining visas to the countries of the European Union for russians has become much longer and more expensive.

In addition, on September 19, a ban on the entry of russian citizens with Schengen visas into Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland came into force. And from September 30, Finland introduced similar restrictions.
