Despite neutrality, Moldova will protect its skies from russian missiles

Moldova's neutrality does not mean that the country should not protect its airspace from russian missiles. Therefore the development of the army is one of the priorities for the Moldovan authorities.

This was stated by the Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova, Igor Grosu, during his speech at the first parliamentary summit of the International Crimea platform, Ukrinform reports.

According to Grosu, there is no doubt that russia is deliberately attacking civilian objects in Ukraine.

"We see that energy infrastructure, residential areas, and office buildings suffer from shelling, and hundreds of people die. Three russian missiles violated the airspace of Moldova, creating a threat to civil aviation as well. This is a brazen violation of the sovereignty and neutrality of Moldova, carried out by the russian army. We categorically condemn this," the Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova said.

He noted that neutrality does not mean a country should not protect its airspace.

"When you are neutral, you pay even more attention to it, and we will do it, in particular, thanks to the fact that we have partners who will help us become stronger. One of our priorities is the development of the army," Grosu informed.

He also noted that a fundamental violation of Moldova's neutrality and independence is the presence of russian troops and ammunition depots in the Transnistria region.

In the end, the Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova once again expressed firm support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and assured that his country does not recognize and will never recognize attempts of illegally annexing Ukrainian territories by russia.
