Germany hands Ukraine radar system for detecting missiles

Germany handed over to Ukraine the first of four promised TRML-4D radar systems for tracking and classifying various types of enemy missiles.

The Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security reported this, citing the statement of the radar supplier Hensoldt.

"The situation in Ukraine requires quick and decisive action. Due to a serial production line and the commitment of our employees, we are able to deliver such systems to protect the population in the shortest possible time," said the company's general director, Thomas Müller.

It is noted that the company plans to transfer all four systems to Ukraine in record time:

"Sensor specialist HENSOLDT is supplying four of its high-performance radars in record time for Diehl Defence's IRIS-T SLM air defense system, which is designed to strengthen Ukraine's defense capability."

The TRML-4D is known to use the latest Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar technology with multiple digitally shaped beams. It can detect, track, and classify various types of aerial targets, focusing on small, fast, and low-flying and/or maneuvering cruise missiles and aircraft, as well as hovering helicopters. It ensures the rapid detection and tracking of 1,500 targets in a radius of up to 250 km.

Earlier, Rubryka reported that German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht announced that by the end of 2022, Ukraine would receive a large amount of previously promised military equipment. Lambrecht said this during the Berlin Foreign Policy Forum.

"Armored evacuation vehicles, Dingo armored vehicles, bridge-laying tanks, additional Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzers, additional multiple rocket launcher systems, and anti-drone systems will be handed over this year. We will support demining. In a word, a huge package is on the way," she said.

It was also reported that Germany sent the first of the four newest IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Federal Republic of Germany.

"Germany delivers the first of four IRIS-T SLM air defense systems to Ukraine. The recent russian missile attacks on Kyiv and other cities show how important the air defense capability for Ukraine's self-defense is," the message reads.
