russian troops are preparing to withdraw from Kherson region — British intelligence

russia is seriously considering retreating from the right-bank bridgehead in the Kherson region. However, given the destroyed bridges, it will not be easy

Rubryka informs about this, referring to the intelligence review of the British Ministry of Defense as of October 20.

British intelligence officers mention the recognition by the russian commander Sergei Surovikin of a difficult situation for the russian federation in the Kherson region. They also take into account the call of the invaders about the need to evacuate the civilian population.

"As the overall operational commander, Surovikin's announcement highlighting negative news about the 'special military operation' is highly unusual.

It likely indicates that the russian authorities are seriously considering a major withdrawal of their forces from the area west of the Dnipro river.

A key challenge of any russian withdrawal operation would be extracting troops and their equipment across the 1000m wide river in good order," British intelligence officers said in the review.

The intelligence added that with all bridges damaged, russia would likely rely heavily on a temporary pontoon bridge near Kherson as well as pontoon crossings, which continue to operate in several locations.

"With all the permanent bridges severely damaged, Russia would highly likely rely heavily on a temporary barge bridge it completed near Kherson in recent days, and military pontoon ferry units, which continue to operate at several locations," British intelligence emphasizes.

It will be recalled that on October 18, the commander of the russian troops in Ukraine, Sergei Surovikin, announced the "difficult situation near Kherson" and the possible "difficult decisions."

"Our next actions and plans regarding the city of Kherson itself will depend on the emerging military-tactical situation. I repeat, it is already today, for today, extremely difficult.

In any case, as I have already said, we will proceed from the need to preserve the lives of the civilian population and our servicemen as much as possible. This is a priority for us.

We will act consciously and in a timely manner. I do not rule out making very difficult decisions," Surovikin said on the broadcast of the propaganda TV channel "Russia 24".

In the previous review, it was said that the russian army has many problems with the command of various levels.

Accordingly, this is reflected in the effectiveness of the russian federation's forces and their morale.
