russia's problems with chain of command hinder its army's effectiveness — British intelligence
There are many problems with the leadership at various levels in the russian army
Rubryka writes about this, referring to the intelligence review of the British Ministry of Defense as of October 19.
British intelligence noted that these problems were reflected both in the effectiveness of russian forces and their morale.
The British Ministry of Defense emphasizes that in the eighth month of russia's war against Ukraine, the main elements of the military leadership in the forces of the russian federation are "increasingly dysfunctional."
"Eyewitness testimony suggests that the shooting of 11 russian soldiers near Belgorod by a fellow recruit on October 15, 2022, occurred after an officer's abusive comments towards ethnic minority recruits," British intelligence reports.
"At the tactical level, there is almost certainly a worsening shortage of capable russian junior officers to organize and lead newly mobilized reservists," the British Ministry of Defense notes.
"Poor lower-level leadership is likely worsening the low morale and poor unit cohesion in many parts of the russian force," according to British intelligence.
Intelligence sources remind us that during the full-scale war, four out of five generals who were in command on the ground have already been replaced, and so far, this has not particularly helped the kremlin to improve its battlefield performance.
"The lack of command continuity will likely be more disruptive than in a Western military because, under russian doctrine, the development of plans sits largely with the commander personally, rather than as a collective effort across a broader staff," summarizes British intelligence.
In the previous review, it was said that the main goal of the last massive russian missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine was to cause great damage to the energy distribution network. It's like trying to compensate for failures on the battlefield.
Also, British intelligence officers claim that the newly mobilized russian forces are even worse equipped than the forces already in Ukraine.
