Germany announces a "huge military aid package" for Ukraine

German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht announced that by the end of 2022, Ukraine would receive a large amount of previously promised military equipment.

As Ukrinform reports, Lambrecht said this during the Berlin Foreign Policy Forum.

"Armored evacuation vehicles, Dingo armored vehicles, bridge-laying tanks, additional Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzers, additional multiple rocket launcher systems, and anti-drone systems will be handed over this year. We will support demining. In a word, a huge package is on the way," she said.

Lambrecht added that, in her opinion, Ukraine needs air defense and artillery the most. She assured that Berlin has no "red lines" in supplying Ukraine with weapons but will be ready to provide only those weapons agreed upon among the allies.

"It is important to always be together with partners and allies. Germany should not act alone. For me, this is the same red line," the  German defense minister believes.

Commenting on Germany's refusal to transfer tanks to Ukraine, Lambrecht said that until now, no one had provided Western-style tanks, particularly the USA, and she considers it more effective to provide Soviet tanks, which do not require additional training by the Ukrainian military.
