808 people released from Russian captivity as part of 24 prisoner swaps
As of October 2, Ukraine returned 808 people from Russian captivity as part of 24 exchanges of prisoners and hostages.
Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said this in a statement on Telegram.
"As of today [October 2], 24 exchanges of prisoners were carried out, 808 people were released from captivity," said Maliar.
She recalled that at the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to establish the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, which operates on the basis of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense and unites more than ten state institutions and organizations.
In this context, Maliar emphasized that Ukraine complies with all norms of the Geneva Conventions regarding the treatment of prisoners of war.
