The leaders of all the countries of the European Union (EU) published a joint statement in which they strongly rejected and unconditionally condemned russia's illegal annexation of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia, and Kherson regions of Ukraine.

This is said in the statement of the European Council, published on September 30, European Pravda reports.

The leaders said russia was endangering global security by deliberately undermining the rules-based international order and flagrantly violating Ukraine's fundamental rights to independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, fundamental principles enshrined in the UN Charter and international law.

"We do not and will never recognize the illegal 'referenda' that Russia has engineered as a pretext for this further violation of Ukraine's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, nor their falsified and illegal results. We will never recognize this illegal annexation. These decisions are null and void and cannot produce any legal effect whatsoever. Crimea, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Luhansk are Ukraine. We call on all States and international organizations to unequivocally reject this illegal annexation," the statement said.

The leaders of the European Union declared their steadfastness in supporting Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty and promised that the actions of the russian federation would not affect the determination of the European Union.

"Ukraine is exercising its legitimate right to defend itself against the Russian aggression to regain full control of its territory and has the right to liberate occupied territories within its internationally recognized borders. The nuclear threats made by the Kremlin, the military mobilization, and the strategy of seeking to falsely present Ukraine's territory as Russia's and purporting that the war may now be taking place on Russia's territory will not shake our resolve. We will strengthen our restrictive measures countering Russia's illegal actions. They will further increase pressure on Russia to end its war of aggression," the EU leaders said.

The European Union firmly supports Ukraine and will continue to provide vital economic, military, social, and financial support to Ukraine as long as it is needed, the EU leaders added.

We will remind that on September 30, the russian dictator vladimir putin signed decrees on the "joining" of the partially occupied Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Donetsk, and occupied Luhansk regions of Ukraine to the russian federation.
