Zelensky calls on world leaders to join charitable foundation of Ukraine’s First Lady
President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that Russia has caused a humanitarian disaster in Ukraine due to hatred of freedom, and called on world figures, companies and foundations to join the newly created Olena Zelenska Foundation.
President Zelensky said this in his speech at the presentation of Olena Zelenska Foundation, Ukrinform reports with reference to the President's Office.
"Twenty five hundred educational facilities in Ukraine were destroyed by Russian strikes – schools, universities, educational clubs and others. More than thousand medical facilities were destroyed by Russian missiles and shelling. Tens of thousands of houses were simply burned down. Millions of people became displaced persons," Zelensky said.
According to him, the world sees what Russia attacks and what Ukraine defends.
"We protect freedom, we protect people and do everything, so that as many friends of freedom around the world as possible can contribute to this struggle. That is why the First Lady of Ukraine set up this foundation – Olena Zelenska Foundation. This is an extremely noble cause, and I encourage all of you to join in – people, companies, foundations," he said.
Zelensky noted that the First Lady chose three directions for the foundation: medicine, education and humanitarian aid.
As reported, on September 22, Olena Zelenska presented her Foundation during a charity evening in New York and called on world leaders to join the restoration of Ukraine.
