Grain Initiative: fourth vessel chartered by UN leaves for Afghanistan

The fourth vessel chartered by the UN World Food Program left Odesa port on Thursday

This was reported by the press service of Ukraine's Ministry of Infrastructure.

As noted in the department, the ship from the UN is transporting Ukrainian wheat to Afghanistan.

"The bulk carrier BC VANESSA, chartered by the UN WFP, left Odesa port with 30,000 tons of wheat on board," the message reads.

The ministry notes that the bulker will arrive at a port in Pakistan. There the wheat will be unloaded and delivered to the residents of Afghanistan.

The population of this country is currently suffering from a food crisis.

BC VANESSA is one of the seven ships that today took out 107.5 thousand tons of agricultural products for the countries of Asia and Europe from the ports of Great Odesa.

A total of 192 vessels have departed from Ukrainian ports since the start of the "grain initiative." In total, 4.38 million tons of agricultural products have already been exported to the countries of Asia, Europe, and Africa.

We will remind you that on Wednesday, September 21, as part of the "grain initiative," 8 more ships left three Ukrainian ports.

As part of the "grain initiative," on Tuesday, September 20, 8 more ships with agricultural products left Ukrainian ports, and food exports exceeded 4 million tons.

Ukraine aims to export through "grain corridor" 3 million tons of agricultural products per month from the ports of Greater Odesa through the " grain corridor " and extend the initiative to the port of Mykolaiv.

As part of the "grain corridor" work, the export of any other goods, except agricultural products, is currently not planned.
