Banks of Vietnam, Kazakhstan, and Armenia refuse russian payment system Mir

After Turkish banks, credit organizations of other countries, which previously accepted Mir cards, stopped working with the russian payment system.

The publication reported that on September 20, banks in Armenia also stopped servicing the russian payment system Mir.

On Tuesday, the Armenian mass media reported that the service of Mir cards in the country had been stopped. The country's Central Bank stated that commercial banks would decide to work with russian cards independently. And owners of russian cards cannot withdraw cash from ATMs.

In response to the question, the Central Bank of Armenia explained that all the risks associated with sanctions due to continued work with Mir cards are borne by the country's banks, Interfax reports.

As noted in the publication, the call centers of the Vietnamese bank BIDV and Kazakhstan's Khalika reported that they do not accept russian "plastic" at the moment.

"The call center of the Vietnamese BIDV reported that they no longer accept cards of the russian payment system Mir. According to a bank employee, BIDV continues to serve VISA, Mastercard, Western Union, JCB, and UnionPay cards, and the Mir payment system is not on this list.

The People's Bank of Kazakhstan (Halyk Bank) also stopped accepting Mir cards. Its call center reported that russian cards are not serviced either through terminals or ATMs," the article said.

russia's central bank noted to the publication that foreign partners make their decisions regarding opening their infrastructure for accepting Mir cards.

On the Mir payment system website, on September 20, the section on the geography of card acceptance was removed.
