Kryvyi Rih rescuers eliminate damage after russian strike on dam
In Kryvyi Rih, the consequences of a russian missile attack on the dam of the Karachunivske reservoir were eliminated all last night
Rubryka reports referring to the Telegram of the head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional administration, Valentyn Reznichenko, and the head of the Kryvyi Rih military-civil city administration, Oleksandr Vilkul.
The rescuers had to blow up the dam in two locations to curb the water level.
Currently, the water level rise has stopped and even decreased in the Inhulets River.
"The whole night, we struggled with the consequences of the evening rocket strike and suffered from new shelling. In Kryvyi Rih, we tamed the water that spilled after the rocket attack on the city's hydraulic facilities.
According to the confirmed data, the russians struck with Kindzhal and Iskander missiles, Reznichenko emphasized.
The head of the region added that due to yesterday's attack on the dam, the water level in different sections of the Inhulets River rose from 1 to almost 2 meters.
"At this moment, we managed to lower it by 13 centimeters, and it continues to fall. Rescuers and emergency services continue their work," the governor summarized.
Vilkul also reported that an extensive list of measures was carried out at night, "starting with two detonations of the dam in the Chornohorka area to increase the carrying capacity, and ending with major engineering works."
The disaster response is ongoing, but the flow of water has decreased, and the water level has begun to recede, Vilkul added.
As a result of the evening rocket attack, 112 private houses and yards were flooded. People were evacuated, in particular from Hdantsivka and Motronivka.
The head of the military-civil administration noted that they found another place where the cruise missile hit and damaged the water supply.
"Almost 5,000 people are without water in the Sofiivka community," Reznichenko said.
Restoration work is ongoing.
Vilkul said that the purpose of this terrorist attack was to "wash away with water" a part of the city of Kryvyi Rih.
We will remind you that eight enemy missiles hit Kryvyi Rih, aimed at hydro-technical facilities.
"It is a terrorist act against our people, against a specific city. After all, the rockets are aimed at buildings that are critically important for people's livelihood," Deputy Chief-of-Staff Tymoshenko wrote on Telegram.
According to him, the russians sent "the maximum number of their weapons to hydro-technical facilities."
President Volodymyr Zelensky assured that the missile strikes were an attempt to flood Kryvyi Rih.
