"In March, we successfully connected Ukraine to our electricity grid. This was planned for 2024, and we did it in just two weeks, and today Ukraine exports electricity to the EU," she said.
The President of the European Commission emphasized that she wants to significantly expand this mutually beneficial trade.
"We have already suspended import duties on Ukrainian exports. We will accept Ukraine into our free European roaming network, and it's time to do that.
Our 'solidarity lines' are a great success. And based on all this, the commission will work with Ukraine to go even further and to ensure Ukraine's uninterrupted access to the EU single market.
Our single market is one of the biggest success stories, and it's time to make it a success story for our Ukrainian friends.
That is why today I am going to Kyiv to discuss all this with President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and to show him that the single market has potential for the future of Ukraine as well," von der Leyen said.
She also expressed her belief that putin would lose his war of aggression, and Ukraine and Europe would win it.
In addition, the President of the European Commission promised that the EU would continue to support Ukraine and strengthen sanctions against the russian federation, which have already caused enormous damage to it.
