Environmental damage caused by russian aggression estimated at $10B

Over 2,000 environmental damage incidents have been recorded over the six months of the Russian Federation's full-scale war on Ukraine. The amount of damages stands at about UAH 395 billion (nearly $10 billion).

That's according to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources.

"Since the large-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, we have been recording all the crimes committed by the occupiers against our environment in order to force them to pay in full for what they have done to the Ukrainian people," the statement reads.

It is noted that over the six months of Russia's continued crimes against the Ukrainian environment, the amount of damages stands at about UAH 395 billion, including UAH 106.3 billion in damage to water resources, UAH 176.5 billion – in damage from air pollution, and UAH 8.8 billion – in damage to soil.

As reported earlier, the Ministry of Environment and UNDP's Office in Ukraine agreed to continue cooperation in the field of environmental protection.
