UN Security Council to hold meeting on Western weapons supply to Ukraine

On Thursday, the UN Security Council will hold an urgent meeting on the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine at the request of russia.

As informed by the Security Council Secretariat, the meeting will start at 15:00 Eastern American time (10:00 p.m. Kyiv time).

russia demanded that the Security Council discuss this issue at the preliminary meeting of the Security Council held on Wednesday. Vasily Nebenzya, russia's Deputy Representative to the UN, said that the Council of Security should discuss "real threats to international peace and security caused by the supply of weapons and military products to Ukraine by foreign countries."

According to preliminary information, UN Deputy Secretary General for Disarmament Affairs Izumi Nakamitsu will report on this issue and persons elected by russia, whom the russian delegation calls "representatives of civil society."
