Prime Minister of Estonia: russia must be pushed back to its borders, EU states must do more for this

No country will feel safe if russia is not stopped in Ukraine

Prime Minister of Estonia, Kaia Kallas states, ERR.ee agency reports.

As Kallas noted, it was a mistake not to punish russia for its aggression in Georgia and Ukraine.

"Now, we must not be soft again. The only solution is to push russia back to its borders. So that putin has nothing to lose but nothing to gain either.

Everything else means that aggression has paid off for him. That would be an invitation, and no state could feel safe anymore," she said.

As ERR writes, since the beginning of the war, Kallas called to limit russia's income from the sale of energy carriers, with which the kremlin supports its military industry.

"The G7 decision to introduce a price cap on russian oil is a significant step, and it will reduce russia's ability to use energy weapons against us and increase the impact of EU sanctions.

The more countries join the agreement on the price limit, the more effective it will be," the Prime Minister of Estonia said.

"That's why we have to help Ukraine defend itself. I think we all have to do more for that," the Prime Minister of Estonia said.

According to Kallas, the EU should quickly move on to the issue of the next, a more powerful package of sanctions, and the flow of tourists from russia should be significantly reduced.

"We continue to work together on a pan-European solution to this issue and are waiting for relevant recommendations from the European Commission," she said.

She also explained why Germany was not as quick to supply arms as the Baltic states.

"We are 27 democracies in the EU. Smaller ships can change course faster than big ones. Germany is a massive ship. It is important that decisions are made and implemented as quickly as possible," Kallas said.

It should be recalled that the Baltic countries urged Germany not to give in to russia's gas blackmail.
