Second ship under UN food program left ports of Odesa region

On Tuesday, six ships with Ukrainian agricultural products left the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Pivdennyi

As the department notes, among the ships is KATERIA, chartered by the UN World Food Program to help the population of Yemen.

The ministry reports that a total of 183,000 tons of Ukrainian agricultural products are on board six vessels (SEAJOY, LADY ZEHMA, SAFFET AGA, SIMAS, MICHALLIS, and KATERIA).

"In less than a month of the Initiative's work, we exported almost one and a half million tons of agricultural products, which is quite a significant result.

However, we have to leave 100–150 vessels per month with a total capacity of 5 million tons per month from the three ports of Greater Odesa," Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov emphasized.

He said that 37.5 thousand tons of wheat for Yemen, which is in a state of humanitarian disaster, are on board the bulk carrier KATERIA.

According to UN data, 16 million people suffer from hunger in the country.

During the implementation of the Initiative on the safe transportation of agricultural products, 61 ships departed from Ukrainian ports. About 1.5 million tons of farm products are on board.

We will remind you that the first vessel chartered by the UN World Food Program arrived at the port of Pivdennyi on August 12.

The bulk carrier BRAVE COMMANDER under the flag of Lebanon left for Ethiopia with 23,000 grains.

The UN expects a significant increase in the number of ships that export Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea corridor and also considers the goal of 2–5 million tons of export achievable.

As Rubryka reported, this became possible thanks to the agreements reached in Istanbul with the mediation of Turkey and the UN.

In Turkey, the Joint Coordination Center inspects ships going to and from Ukraine.

The first ship with Ukrainian grain after February 24 left Odesa port on August 1.

As part of implementing the Initiative on the safe transportation of agricultural products, 44 ships have left Ukrainian ports and exported more than 1 million tons of farm products to 15 countries worldwide.
