Sweden to allocate SEK 500 mln in military aid to Ukraine

Sweden announced a new aid package to Ukraine.

Prime Minister of Sweden Magdalena Andersson announced this on August 29.

After a meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Magdalena Andersson announced that Sweden would provide 500 million kronor ($46.75 million) in military aid to Ukraine.

The prime minister did not provide details of the military package but noted that it would be similar to the previous one. It included anti-tank weapons, personal protective equipment, and demining equipment.

"We will continue to support Ukraine as long as the war is going on," Andersson said.

Kuleba called on Sweden to provide the country with weapons such as howitzers and shells.

"As long as the war continues, we will be asking for more weapons," Kuleba told reporters.

The military aid package is part of an additional aid package of 1 billion kronor. The second half is civilian assistance. It will include the purchase of Ukrainian wheat, which will be transferred to countries experiencing food shortages and contribute to Ukraine's economy's development.
