Lake Synevyr has shallowed to the lowest level in history
Soon the lake should become fuller
In Zakarpattia, the water level in the largest mountain lake of Ukraine, Synevyr, fell to historic levels minimum, but the lake is outside the limit of maximum shoaling.
The reason for this was the drought throughout the territory of Zakarpattia, which lasted throughout the spring and summer, reports Ukrinform.
Previous record the depth of Lake Synevyr was recorded in 2005, there is a mark on the island showing this minimum. Currently, the water level has dropped by almost a meter from the previous minimum.
"As of August 29, 2022, the water level in Lake Synevyr has dropped by 6 meters from the maximum level, and by 3 meters from the average level. Although the historical minimum of lowering the water level in previous years is up to 9-9.5 meters, depending on the place of measurement. So, Lake Synevyr is outside the limit of maximum shallowing by another 3-3.5 meters," wrote the administrator of the group "Scientific work of the Synevyr NPP" informs Maryna Shpilka on Facebook.
Synevyr is fed by three streams and has one outlet. Thus, the lake is a self-regulating system. The water level in the lake, depending on weather conditions, can "jump" up and down by 5-7 meters. Average depth Synevir is 8-10 m, the maximum is 22-24 m.
Local guide Vitaly Dybluk explained that soon the lake will become fuller. "Thunderstorms have already started here, which adds water to the ecosystem. And in autumn, the lake will become larger due to seasonal rains," he said.
