About 20 streets, squares in 14 countries named in honor of Ukraine

About 20 streets and squares in 14 countries have been renamed or named in honor of Ukraine as a sign of solidarity with the country.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said this in a Facebook post.

"As of today, as part of the Ukraine Street campaign, as a sign of solidarity with Ukraine, about 20 streets and squares in 14 countries around the world have been renamed or named in honor of our country. These are the Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Albania, Slovakia, Norway, Canada, Hungary, Estonia, Sweden, France, Iceland, Luxembourg, and the United States," the ministry said.

It added that in six countries (the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, Albania, Norway, and Canada) "Ukrainian" names were given to the streets and squares where Russian diplomatic institutions are located.

Ministry said that that two such names were given on Ukraine's Independence Day: "Boulevard de Kyiv" appeared in Luxembourg, and the corner of Brighton Beach and Coney Island Avenues in New York has been co-named "Ukrainian Way."
