President Zelensky: russia's degradation began with seizure of Crimea
russia's degradation began with its seizure of the Crimean peninsula
Rubryka writes about this, referring to the statement of President Volodymyr Zelensky during the opening of the second summit of the Crimea Platform.
As the Head of the country noted, the degradation continued with the mass terror carried out by the aggressor country since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
"russia's degradation began with the seizure of Crimea, with terror against the Crimean Tatar people, the indigenous people of Crimea, with religious repression, which became almost the largest religious persecution in Europe in the 21st century against the Crimean Muslim community.
There were expulsions of all people who said that Crimea is Ukraine, who were not afraid to defend Ukrainian culture, freedom in Crimea, and we saw all this murder and torture," the president emphasized.
Zelensky noted that the invaders did and continue to do all this in Crimea since the first weeks after its shameful capture.
"Mass terror after February 24 became the logical conclusion of this degradation of the state, which not so long ago was invited to the table with G7.
And which is now competing with the most brutal regimes of the past, which are responsible for genocide, invasive actions, and deportations," the president concluded.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that russia would receive a powerful response in the event of an increase in the number of shelling on August 23-24.
Zelensky noted that he has certain information from Ukrainian intelligence and foreign partners about russia's plans and that there is a threat of an increase in the number of shelling on August 23-24.
At the same time, the president noted that such a threat from russia is daily and constant.
As Rubryka reported, Polish President Andrzej Duda arrived in Kyiv on August 23 to participate in the summit of the Crimea Platform.
We will remind you that today, August 23, the second summit of the Crimea Platform started.
Sixty leaders of different countries will attend the second summit of the Crimean Platform.
It should be noted that NATO Secretary-General Stoltenberg confirmed his participation in the summit.
This time, the summit is being held remotely due to the full-scale war in Ukraine.
