60 leaders to take part in Crimea Platform’s second summit

The second summit of the Crimea Platform, which will be held online on August 23, will be attended by 60 leaders of different countries

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this at a press conference with the President of Poland.

"Today, the summit will be held in an expanded form, with the participation of 60 leaders of different countries.

The countries of the African continent and the countries of Latin America have joined us," Zelensky emphasized.

We should note that NATO Secretary-General Stoltenberg confirmed his participation in the summit.

At the same time, the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, will personally attend the summit.

As Rubryka reported, he arrived on a visit to Ukraine on the morning of August 23.

Duda and Zelensky already had a meeting where they discussed defense, security issues, and Poland's provision of shelter to Ukrainian refugees.

Crimea Platform

It is an international platform for discussing ways to de-occupy Crimea.

The inaugural summit of the Crimean Platform took place on August 23, 2021.

This is a newly created international format that aims to achieve the de-occupation of Crimea.

Its functions include:

• increasing the effectiveness of the international response to the ongoing occupation of Crimea,
• responses to growing security threats,
• increasing international pressure on the Kremlin,
• prevention of further violations of human rights and protection of victims of the occupation regime.

According to the plan, the platform will function at four levels: heads of state, foreign ministers, parliaments, and expert circles.

russia, while commenting on the Crimea Platform, stated that they considered all efforts of Kyiv to return Crimea illegitimate and perceived them as a "threat of aggression against two subjects of the russian federation."

Forty-six delegations from different countries and representatives of international organizations joined the first summit on August 23, 2021.

Eight countries were represented at the level of presidents. In particular, all NATO and EU countries were represented at the summit of the Crimean Platform.
