Latvians fundraised 300,000 euros in one day for Bayraktar for Ukrainian soldiers

After the announcement of fundraising for Bayraktar for the Ukrainian army, Latvians donated 300,000 euros in one day

One of the initiators of the fundraising, Latvian musician Ralfs Eilands, announced this at a briefing on Wednesday, reports the correspondent of Ukrifnform.

"Today is the second day of the fundraiser, and we have already collected 300,000 euros," Eilands said.

He said this initiative arose after communicating with Ukraine's ambassador to Latvia and other Ukrainian diplomats.

"I asked what we can do to help Ukraine. They said that it would be best to buy Bayraktar."

We discussed the possibility of buying other types of weapons, but it was explained that it would be challenging for the charitable foundation to purchase them even with the funds. And this option is the most realistic," the musician noted.

According to Eilands, the collected funds will be transferred to the Ministry of Defense of Latvia. And it will purchase Bayraktar from Turkey and transfer it to Ukraine.

Commenting on the prevalence of this initiative in different countries, Eilands noted that it is famous thanks to Ukrainians.

"After the start of the war, there were songs about Bayraktar and videos with examples of their use. It is more accessible than other weapons, and ordinary people can do it, which is why it is so popular," the musician shares.

It should be recalled that on August 16, Latvia began collecting funds to purchase an unmanned aerial combat vehicle Bayraktar for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Also, on May 25, Lithuanian journalist, Andrius Tapinas, started a fundraising campaign for Bayraktar Ukraine. The fundraiser was completed in three days.

After that, the Turkish manufacturing company said that the solidarity of the Lithuanians touched it.

It was why Turkey decided to donate a drone, and the collected funds could be directed to other needs of Ukraine.

Inspired by the example of Tapinas, as Rubryka reported, in Ukraine, the Serhiy Prytula Foundation organized a fundraiser for three Bayraktars, which was completed in three days.

At the same time, they collected funds for almost four drones. The Baykar company has announced that it will hand over three drones free of charge.

Currently, the fundraiser for Bayraktar for Ukraine is ongoing in Poland, which journalist Slawomir Sierakovskii initiated.

After that, similar fundraising campaigns were initiated in Norway, Poland, and Canada.
