Almost half mln people will have to evacuate in case of Zaporizhzhia NPP accident
The situation in the temporarily occupied Enerhodar, where Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (ZNPP) is located, is dangerous not only for the Zaporizhzhia region
Oleksandr Starukh, the head of the Zaporizhzhia regional military administration, told about this on the air of the Apostrof TV channel.
As Governor Starukh noted, the evacuation plan from the city and the risk zone of radiation pollution are adjusted considering the military situation.
"The situation is dangerous not only for the Zaporizhzhia region. Let's take the 50-km mandatory evacuation zone that may arise from a possible accident at the Enerhodar NPP. It is more than 200,000 in our area and under 200,000 in the neighboring Dnipropetrovsk region.
The cities of Nikopol, Marhanets, Enerhodar, Vasylivka, Dniprorudne, and others," Starukh emphasized.
The governor says the evacuation plan from Enerhodar and the radiation contamination risk zone is being adjusted considering the military situation. The situation is under the control of the central government.
At the same time, Starukh emphasized that it is challenging to fully implement civil protection measures because part of the territory has been captured.
Currently, the radiation situation at the nuclear plant is stable. Indicators do not exceed the norm. But everything can change at any moment due to the senseless acts of the occupier.
We should note that the invaders almost daily shell the largest nuclear power plant in Europe.
As a result, Ukraine was forced to address the world with a warning that the consequences of these russian crimes could be equivalent to using an atomic bomb.
The other day, the dangerous situation was discussed at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
The participants of the discussion came to a common conclusion that the IAEA mission should gain access to the station.
The russian federation must withdraw its troops from the station and return them to the control of the rightful owner. russia refuses to do this.
Even Amnesty International saw the danger to the whole world from the actions of the russian federation. They said that russia was using the ZNPP as a military base that threatens civilians.
