Rada’s National Security Committee backs motion to extend martial law, general draft
The Verkhovna Rada's Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence supported draft laws on the extension for 90 days of martial law and mobilization in Ukraine.
That's according to People's Deputy with the Holos (Voice) faction, Yaroslav Zhelezniak.
"The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence generally supported draft laws on the extension of martial law (No. 7664) and general mobilization (No. 7665) for 90 days," MP said.
The draft laws are now to be put for a vote in Parliament.
Оn August 12, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine tabled in the Verkhovna Rada the bill on extending the period of martial law and that on extending general mobilization for another 90 days.
Bill No. 7664 provides for the extension of martial law in Ukraine for 90 days from 5:30 on August 23.
In turn, according to Bill No. 7665, general mobilization shall be extended for 90 days, also from August 23.
On May 22, the Verkhovna Rada, at the motion of President Zelenskyi, extended martial law and general mobilization for 90 days, until August 23.
