US supports calls for creating demilitarized zone around ZNPP
The United States supports calls for a demilitarized zone around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
A representative of the State Department stated it, Reuters reports.
"The fighting near the nuclear plant is dangerous and irresponsible, and we continue to call on russia to cease all military operations at or near Ukrainian nuclear facilities and return full control to Ukraine, and we support Ukraine's calls for a demilitarized zone around the nuclear power plant," the representative said.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, earlier on Thursday, called for an immediate end to hostilities near Europe's largest nuclear power plant and the creation of a demilitarized zone around the ZNPP.
